Audio script:
… And here are some interesting TV programmes for you. The musical Green Green Summer on Channel 1 starts at eight o’clock. At the same time on Channel 2 is The Red Spotted Squirrel. Home and Garden follows at eight twenty-five. Today you’ll learn how to make a house for your dog. Channel 3 offers you a touching film of friendship, The Lonely Giraffe. The film starts at eight thirty. After that, you can discover the famous old town of Inca in Peru. However, it comes on quite late, at ten o’clock. We hope that you can choose a programme for yourself. Enjoy and have a great time.
Writing
3. What are your TV-watching habits?
- Besides the very good effects that we can have through watching TV, there are still bad sides that we can not deny. If you have good watching habits, you will learn a lot of useful knowledge from TV, otherwise they will harm you. So first, let’s do this questionnaire to find out whether you are a good TV viewer or not.
- Then basing on the answers you have just
chosen, please write a short description of your TV-watching habits.
Tick () the right answer for you (you can tick more than one answer). Use your answers to write a short description of your TV-watching habits.

Suggested structure:
I do not watch much TV / I enjoy watching TV (use your answers to the first three questions above to support your statement)
I like ... /I usually watch ... (your favourite programme)
I usually leave the TV on … / turn off the TV …
I think I have good/bad TV watching habits (your comment on your habits)
Suggested writing 1:
I do not watch much TV. I only spend one or two hours a day watching TV. I spend most of my free time on outdoor activities. I usually watch the news on VTV1 channel. I sometimes watch TV while I am eating. I usually turn off the TV when I do not watch it. I think I have good TV watching habits.
I enjoy watching TV. I often spend three or four hours a day watching TV. I often watch TV after school and in the evening when I do all my homework and prepare for the next lessons. Sometimes when there is a good program I watch it while I am eating. I like watching cartoons and game shows. I never leave the TV on when I am not watching it. Even though I spend rather much time watching TV but I think I have good watching habits.
Suggested writing 2:
Yes, through the lesson we can now use the lexical items related to the topic ‘Television’, listen to get specific information from a recommended TV schedule and write a short passage about one’s watching TV habits.
Please tell me what you have learnt today.
