I.Task 1: Listen and read
Look at the picture and guess:
1. What is the two people’ relationship ?
2. What are they talking about?
1. They are grandmother and granddaughter
2. The grandmother is telling her granddaughter to focus on schoolwork. While the granddaughter is thinking about romantic relationships
VOCABULARY
1. Strict /strɪkt/: - rule/ decipline
Sooner or later: arranged or usual time
Single-sex school: school has only boys or girls to study
Sympathy /ˈsɪmpəθi/(n) feel pity or sorrow for someone else’s misfortune. Or showing you care and understand someone.
Sympathetic (adj)
5. Spouse /spaʊs/ (n) relationship between husband and wife.
6. Concentrate + on /ˈkɒnsntreɪt/ = attention to sth
Task 2
Read the conversation and decide whether the statements are True (T) ,False(F) or not given( NG)
Nam is Mai’s classmate.
Mai and Nam are in a romantic relationship.
3. Mai’s grandmother thinks boys and girls can’t be real friends.
Mai’s grandmother didn’t have opposite-sex classmates.
Mai’s grandmother is not pleased because Mai does not study hard enough

Task 4: Read the conversation again, and find the sentences that have the structure “It is/ was…that…”

Cleft sentences: “It is/ was…that…”
Complete the sentences with the verbs in the box. Use each verb once only. Make changes to the form, if necessary:
Anna’s boyfriend……………friendly. Where did she meet him?

When Tuan………………older, he’ll be mature enough to make the right decisions.
