2. Compound sentences (Câu ghép):
Là câu chứa 2 mệnh đề độc lập trở lên, diễn tả các ý chính có tầm
quan trọng ngang nhau Vd : Linh thông minh.Linh xinh đẹp
*Chúng ta sử dụng các cách sau để nối 2
mệnh đề: Sử dụng dấu chấm phẩy (;).
-Sử dụng dấu phẩy (,) và một liên từ
đẳng lập (and, but, so, yet)
Ex: Linh is intelligent and beautiful.

- But: Nhưng

So : Vì vậy
Yet : Tuy nhiên
Công thức tổng quát : Mẹnh đề 1, từ nối + mệnh đề 2
Vd: I like coffee.I don’t like tea
I like coffee, but I don’t like tea ( nối 2 câu )
2.Conjunctive Adverb
- Therefore : Do đó
- However : Tuy nhiên
Nevertheless: Tuy nhiên, tuy vậy
Moreover : Thêm vào đó, hơn nữa
Otherwiswe : Mặt khác
công thức tổng quát : Mệnh đề 1, từ nối trạng ngữ , mệnh đề 2


- Sử dụng dấu chấm phẩy (;) và một
trạng từ nối tiếp ( however, therefore,
nevertheless, moreover, …và theo
sau đó là dấu phẩy (,)
Ex: The bus was very crowed , therefore, I had to stand all the way .
VD: The elephants are racing , people cheer to encourage them
Những mệnh đề phụ thuộc thường bắt đầu bằng:
When :Khi nào
while: trong khi
Because: bởi vì
Although: mặc dù
even though : Mặc dù
If : Nếu

EX: Because the bus was crowded, I had to stand all the way
Dependent Clause ( mệnh đề phụ thuộc )
Independent clause ( Mệnh đề độc lập-Md chính)
Bổ sung về mặt ý nghĩa cho vế độc lập
While the elephants are racing , people cheer to encourage them
People cheer to encourage them while the elephants are racing
Although it rained yesterday, they went camping
They went to camping when it rains yesterday
Câu phức là câu có 1 MD độc lập và 1 md phụ thuộc được đi kèm bởi các liên từ :
