made of leather or plant fibers, and headdresses - often associated with gods and
pharaohs.
Cleanliness was actually very important to the ancient Egyptians. They had
cleaning rituals daily in the river or bathed at home in water basins filled with
water from the river. They didn't use soap, though. Instead, they washed with a
cleansing cream that was made from oil, lime and perfume.

Additionally, men, women and children of all classes all wore makeup. Kohl around the
eyes was the most popular type of makeup, and it was worn for more than cosmetic
purposes: it actually helped protect the ancient Egyptians' skin from damage from the
sun.
Almost all ancient Egyptians wore jewelry. They wore amulets and rings for both

your answer sheet to indicate the correct answer to each of the
questions.
Members of the royal family have led an outpouring of tributes from around the
world at the death of Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth. Buckingham
Palace has spoken of the Queen's “deep sorrow” after her husband of 73 years,
who had been by her side throughout her reign, died peacefully at Windsor Castle
aged 99 on Friday night (Australian time).
Flags at Buckingham Palace and government buildings across the United Kingdom
were lowered to half-mast, and within an hour of the announcement the public
began to lay flowers outside Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace. However,
mourners have been urged not to gather and leave tributes at royal residences, and
the public has been asked to stay away from funeral events because of the
coronavirus pandemic. An online book of condolence has been launched on the
Royal Family's official website for people to leave messages of sympathy.

The prince died two months short of his 100th birthday. He had
recently spent four weeks in hospital with an infection where he was
treated for a heart condition before being discharged and returned to
Windsor early in March. The Duke of Edinburgh had been by his
wife's side throughout her 69-year reign, the longest in British history,
and during that time earned a reputation for a tough, no-nonsense
attitude, and a propensity for occasional gaffes. A Greek prince, Philip
married Elizabeth in 1947, and together they had four children, eight
grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He played a key role
helping the monarchy adapt to a changing world in the post-World
War II period, and behind the walls of Buckingham Palace was the
one key figure the Queen could trust and turn to, knowing he could
tell her exactly what he thought.

Essay by Jessica Bourne, aged 14
I'm a big fan of films featuring the spy James Bond. __________ (30).
We've recently bought Quantum of Solace, in which Daniel Craig plays
the part of Bond. I don't know why the film's got that name- but it's a
great movie, anyway. __________ (31) have been great, but Daniel
Craig, who's made lots of other films, plays the part better than any of
them. Even though he doesn't talk very much, I think he's the most
perfect actor for the role. He even does a few of the more dangerous
things in __________ (32) , instead of getting someone else to do them.
I did wonder sometimes whether he'd be clever enough to defeat the bad
people -but I'm not going to tell you the ending!

The actress who stars with Craig gives a fantastic performance too- I
loved all the glamorous clothes she wore! The director probably had a
hard job making this Bond film as full of action as earlier ones.
__________ (33), with a car chase along a mountain road, and plenty
of other thrilling scenes, too - Bond __________ (34) and so on.
Unfortunately, I found the story difficult to follow in places, and it also
__________ (35) - it lasted under two hours. I also felt there weren't as
many jokes as in the old Bond films. And where was all the ridiculous
Bond equipment - the underwater car or exploding watch that everyone
laughed at? This is a more serious, darker Bond film, but I still really
enjoyed it.

Question 30.
A. I've got most of them on DVD
B. When I've got most of them on DVD. C. I've got most of which on DVD
D. I've got most of that on DVD
Question 31.
A. All the actors who've played James Bond
B. All the actors have played James Bond
C. All the actors played James Bond
D. The all actors who've played James Bond
Question 32. A. the film himself B. the film herself C. the film myself D. the film itself
Question 33. A. But the excitement starts right at the beginning here B. At the beginning here
C. During the beginning here
D. At the beginning here
Question 34. A. leaping off tall buildings B. leap off tall buildings
C. leap off high buildingsD. leap off tall building
Question 35. A. seemed to be over very quickly B. seeming to be over very quickly
C. to seem to be over very quickly
D. has seemed to be over very quickly

IX. Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D on
your answer sheet to indicate the correct answers to each of the
questions from 36 to 40.
International Women's Day, celebrated on March 8th, is a time to
honor women's progress and advocate for real change towards gender
equality. This day, rooted in a 1908 demonstration where 15,000
women in New York City stood united for equal rights, better pay,
shorter hours, and voting rights, has grown into a worldwide
movement. Clara Zetkin, at a meeting in 1910, suggested a special
day each year to focus on women's rights, leading to the first
International Women's Day in 1911.

Despite some beliefs that women have equal chances as men, the reality often
tells a different story. Girls worldwide face more household duties than boys
and are more likely to miss out on school. In many countries, equal education
for both genders is not guaranteed, and many girls are married off young, which
can force them to end school early, lead to early pregnancy together with other
health issues, and increase the chance of domestic violence.
On International Women's Day, people participate in activities that raise
awareness and call for gender equality. Wearing purple, a color of women's
rights history, is common. It is also a day when women are celebrated with gifts
and social recognition in some places.
The journey towards full gender equality continues to face challenges. Yet,
women's groups across the globe remain strong and active, with younger
women and teenagers adding their voices and energy to the cause. They are
organizing, speaking out, and urging a shift in how we view and act towards
each other regarding gender roles.

A. That women should wear purple to show unity

D. That women should receive gifts and social recognition on March 8th
Question 39: What issue is NOT mentioned as a challenge faced by girls, according to
