MY BEST FRIEND
I have many friends of several kinds. But my best friend is a boy whose name is An. An is seventeen years old. He lives near my house. He is not only clever boy but also a good boy. An`s father is a carpenter. His mother looks after their small shop. They are very hardworking people. They are also very kind to me. As An goes to school with me. We are in the same class. He sometimes helps me in my lessons. I too sometimes help him to understand and learn a few difficult lessons. After school, An and I play some games. 








Sometimes we go out to catch some fish or birds which we really enjoy catching. We often return home very late after our hunting trips and our parents scold us severely. But An and I are interesting in this kind of hunting that we cannot give it up. Indeed, I enjoy An`s company very much.









My Best Friend
Of all my close girl friends, I like Ngoc the most. We have been studying together since the first form and now we are both sixteen, the age of sweet dreams. She is of medium height. She has very straight black hair which is always worn in two pretty plaits. With round wide eyes and sparkling white teeth, Ngoc looks like an angel. Her smiling face is the thing I love most about her. As we have been friends for a very long time, I know her character thoroughly. She is the sort of person who is always understanding, caring and especially helpful. I remember she once cycled for






about 20 kilometres to pick me up because I stupidly got lost midway when going out on a picnic with my classmates. What impresses me most is that Ngoc is admirably humorous. Anywhere, any time, she can tell jokes of charming humor. However, she gets envious now and then if I get more compliment from teachers, which is actually not a bi problem to me. Above all, Ngoc is still my beloved friend, and I believe that nothing is going to change my love to her.










VIETNAM TEACHERS’DAY
Every year, Vietnamese people celebrate the 20th November in appreciation of the educators, which is called the Vietnam Teachers’ Day. The purpose of this is to honor teachers’ virtues, pains, and also their contribution not only to their own students but also to the whole society. Several days before the 20th November, streets seem to be busier with people selling and buying flowers and gifts. Flower shops are full of aromatic flowers waiting to be brought away. Former students make use of the day to express their gratitude to their former teachers by paying









them a visit with a bunch of flowers or a small present. At school, teachers and students report to school as usual but the usual activities and classes are replaced by activities of celebration, thanking and remembrance. Schools often hold singing contests among students and teachers. It is particularly this time of the year when a lot of beautiful songs about teachers are heard. The celebration makes me think of my former teacher at secondary school with deep gratitude. I never miss this special occasion to show my respect and thankfulness to her; thus the Teachers’ Day always brings me a true eagerness.








MY HOBBY
Every weekend I swim with my friends in a small river flowing across my village. And I find it my real hobby when I have free time. Usually late in the morning, we gather under a big old mangrove tree where we get undressed and divide ourselves into two groups and choose the game we like. If the tide is high, we hold a swimming contest or play “hide and seek” under the water. Rain or sun, it does not matter. We play very happily and sociably. If the tide is low, two groups of us play “throw mud to each other”. At the end of the









games all the players are covered with mud, all over the body! It is said that hobby can be changed when time goes by. However, we really enjoy swimming and playing in my small river very much.
