Hello Ms.My
My name is Nguyen Ngoc Thuy Linh
Student of class 9B
The wonders of Viet Nam!
Son Doong Cave
Son Doong Cave in Son Trach commune, Bo Trach district,
Quang Binh province, is the largest natural cave in the world.
Son Doong Cave was formed about 2 - 5 million years ago. As
river water flows across the limestone area, the water erodes
the limestone over millions of years, creating a huge cave
system. The cave is 150m wide, more than 200m high, and
nearly 9km long. The capacity of Son Doong cave is about
91.44m, the cave dome is nearly 244m high - containing a 40storey building and stalactite columns up to 70m high. In the
cave there is a 2.5km long underground river. The cave has
two ''sky wells'', bringing sunlight in, creating conditions for
plants to grow like a tropical forest in the cave. As for the
wild, mysterious and majestic beauty of Son Doong cave,
Indeed, it must be assessed that "there is no place on earth like
Son Doong. There are many scenes that I can only stare at in
amazement, not knowing how to describe it with words".
