There are three kinds of writing task 2.

Topic 1: Young people should spend more time on cultural activities such as music and theatre and less time on sport. How far do you agree with this statement?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

There are some people in society who argue that young people should spend more time on cultural activities such as music and theatre. In contrast, other individuals espouse the idea that young people should spend more time on sport. It is a controversial issue, but I believe that both sides have their own merits; however, I think that the latter view is more reasonable. This essay aims to prove my claim.


On the one hand, you may spend time on cultural activities such as music and theatre because these activities entertain you after you work and study for a long time. However, if you spend so much time on them, your body will be weak and you don’t go out often to enjoy fresh air and meet other people.
On the other hand, you can enjoy music and theatre, but you should spend more time on sport. Sport can make you healthy and you can contact other people in your community.





You may go out and enjoy the environment around you. You may do many kinds of exercises such as jogging, walking, playing tennis, playing badminton and playing even football. Maybe one day you may attend a sport contest and become famous.
In conclusion, although there are valid reasons why young people should spend more time on cultural activities such as music and theatre, it is still more reasonable to conclude that they should spend more time on sport to be healthier so that they can work and study better.





Topic 2: Children should always follow their parents’ advice.
To what extend do you agree or disagree with this statement?

There are some people in society who argue that children should always follow their parents’ advice. In contrast, other individuals espouse the idea that children should sometimes follow their own ideas. It is a controversial issue, but I believe that both sides have their own merits; however, I think that the former view is more reasonable. This essay aims to prove my claim.




On the one hand, parents are adults and they have experienced many events in their life. They know what to do and what not to do. Moreover, they have studied many things and they have got a lot of knowledge. As a result, they can guide their children to do right things and avoid bad things. If their children follow their advice, they will be successful in the future.
On the other hand, children are always immature. They have not learned many things




in their life and they do not have many experiences as well as a lot of knowledge. In general, they cannot realize what is wrong and what is right. They have to follow their parents’ guidance.
In conclusion, although there are valid reasons why children should follow their own ideas, it is still more reasonable to conclude that they should always follow their parents’ advice so that they can succeed in their future activities.



Topic 3: The Internet has as many disadvantages as it does advantages.

There are some people in society who argue that the Internet has many disadvantages. In contrast, other individuals espouse the idea that the Internet has many advantages. It is a controversial issue, but I believe that both sides have their own merits; however, I think that the latter view is more reasonable. This essay aims to prove my claim.




On the one hand, although the internet has many disadvantages, we can avoid them and we do not use them. For example, we do not play so many games, we should not watch violent films, and we do not read the information which is harmful to our people or our country.
On the other hand, on the internet we can read a lot of useful information. We can enjoy beautiful music, and we can watch exciting football matches and interesting films.



Especially, we can learn English on the internet: we can learn how to speak, how to write, how to read and how to listen to English.
In conclusion, although there are valid reasons why the Internet has many disadvantages, it is still more reasonable to conclude that the Internet has many advantages. In my opinion, I think that I cannot live without the internet.
