As can be seen from the data in the table, the literacy rates in Sunshine country rose slightly from 50% in 1998 to 53% in 2002 in Lowlands. There was a dramatic rise in 2007, it reached to 90%. In Midlands, the rates increased gradually by 5% in 2007. In contrast, there was a slight decrease in the rates of literacy in Highlands in the first four years from 1998 to 2002. In the last six years, the rates dropped sharply from 45% to 30%. In general, the literacy rates in Sunshine country had tendency to increase over 10 years.
