“Yellow flowers on the green grass” is a 2015 Vietnamese drama, which was directed by Victor Vu. It is adapted from the novel of the same by Nguyen Nhat Anh. It was selected as the Vietnamese entry for the Best Foreign language film at the 89th Academy Awards but it was not nominated (
The film stars are Thinh Vinh, Trong Khang and Thanh My. Thinh Vinh as Thieu, Trong Khang as Tuong and Thanh My as Man. They are all child actors and they are main actors too. In addition the movie also has many other actors. Although there aren’t any famous actors, the film attracted a large audience.
The film is about the childhood of the brothers Thieu (Thinh Vinh) and Tuong (Trong Khang) in a poor rural village in central Vietnam in 1980s . They share and do every thing together. However, when their friend next door Man (Thanh My) comes to stay with them and a big flood hits their village, there is a big misunderstanding that lead to Tuong’s back injury. The film has an open ending with the scene of Thieu and Tuong studying at their house.
Director Viet Linh was ordered by Phuong Nam Films to write the script of the movie which was finished in 2013. The script was demonstrated from the same name novel of writer Nguyen Nhat Anh by Viet Linh, Victor Vu and Doan Nhat Nam altogether. 
The film received many positive reviews from critics for its touching story, beautiful and familiar scenery of the country in Vietnam, and the especially impressive acting of three main actors
I like this film because the film touches audiences heart because it is about a story of childhood but it is not childish nor for only children, it’s for adults who used to be children when they remember their own childhood, home town and family . The film is weel worth watching
In addition, not only from making movies, but also composed into songs too
