Động từ tận cùng bằng '-ed' được phát âm:
+/id/: sau âm /t/ hoặc /d/ ( needed, wanted,…) .
+/t/ sau phụ âm vô thanh /k/, /p/, /f/, /s/,/∫/, /t∫/
(k, p, f, gh, ph, s, sh, ch, x) (laughed, booked, stopped,
faxed, watched, washed) .
+/d/: sau nguyên âm hoặc phụ âm hữu thanh(i, e, o, a, u, b, l, m, n, r,
h, g, v, z,…) (studied, played, called,...)
-> trừ 2 trường hợp trên.
