1. What is
Lunar New
Year?
Tet (or Lunar New Year) is the first day of
the lunar year (January 1), considered
the most important and oldest holiday of
Vietnam. During Tet, all work is put aside
so people can have fun and visit each
other. This is an opportunity for family
members, near and far relatives, and
neighbors to reunite, visit, wish each
other good things and express respect
and gratitude to ancestors.
2.Origin
of Lunar
New Year
The origin of Lunar New Year is still a matter of
debate.
Most information believes that Lunar New Year
originated from China and was introduced to
Vietnam during 1000 years of Chinese domination.
But according to the legend "Banh Chung and Banh
Day", Vietnamese people have been celebrating Tet
since the time of King Hung, that is, before 1000
years of Chinese domination.
3. Lunar
New Year
takes
place
Vietnamese New Year is calculated according
to the lunar calendar, taking place after the
New Year (Western New Year). Every year, Tet
usually lasts from December 23 (the 12th
lunar month) to January 7 (the 1st lunar
month).
4.The
meaning of
Lunar New
Year
*Tet is not simply a transition period
between the old year and the new year, it
also carries special meanings such as:
-Tet is an opportunity for children and
grandchildren to express their respect to
their ancestors and deceased relatives by
preparing and offering solemn feasts and
five-fruit trays to the altar.
-Tet is a time for family reunions. This is an
opportunity for children and grandchildren
in the family to express gratitude to their
grandparents and parents for their efforts
in giving birth and raising them.
5.Customs
and traditions
during the
Lunar New
Year
*You know, there are customs and
traditions that have been passed
down from ancient times to today
and have become the typical
beauty of Tet. Some beautiful
