Cách thêm ED
Động từ tận cùng bằng E thì chỉ thêm D:
ví dụ: raise -> raised, love -> loved…
Động từ tận cùng bằng Y , trước Y là một phụ âm thì ta đổi Y thành I , rồi thêm ED,
ví dụ: study -> studied, try -> tried
Động từ có kết cấu phụ-nguyên –phụ thì ta gấp đôi phụ âm cuối trước khi thêm ED

/id/: động từ tận cùng bằng: t,d, ví dụ: needed, wanted
/t/ : động từ tận cùng bằng : ph,k ,p,sh,f, ch ,ce, x,s, gh ví dụ: watched, washed, helped
/d/ : ngoài các trường hợp trên, còn lại
