The plot of the story : Kieu and Kim Trong love each other, but Kieu has to sell herself to settle the debt of her family. She endures difficulties and hardship for 15 years, however Deep in her heart, Kieu stays faithful to Kim Trong. Finally Kieu is reunited with Kim Trong

A SAMPLE WRITING:
I have just read a short story “Lao Hac”, which was written by Nam Cao, a famous Vietnamese writer, and considered a literary works with high value of reality criticism over the Vietnamese society before 1945. This story reflects the poverty and miseries of the poor, especially farmers who were attached to their lands and villages.
The main character of the story is old Mr. Hac, a very poor farmer, whose son lives and works far from the family. He has a dog and it is his only close friend. Like other people at that time, Mr. Hac is so poor that he cannot support himself. Having nothing to eat to survive , he has to sell his only dog for a little money, but it does not help him continue his life long.
When thinking about his son, he does not want to sell his house or his small piece of land. He finds it impossible to suffer such miserable life anymore. In the depth of despair, he kills himself.
Although the story has a sad ending, I think it is really worth reading. It helps us understand and sympathize with the poor in our society at that time.

Nhân vật trung tâm của các phẩm là một "ông già" người Cuba, người đã cố gắng chiến đấu trong ba ngày đêm vật lộn với một con cá kiếm khổng lồ trên biển vùng Giếng Lớn khi ông câu được nó. Sang đến ngày thứ ba, ông dùng lao đâm chết được con cá, buộc nó vào mạn thuyền và lôi về nhưng đàn cá mập đánh hơi thấy đã lăn xả tới, ông lại đem hết sức tàn chống chọi với lũ cá mập, phóng lao, thậm chí cả mái chèo để đánh. Ông giết được nhiều con, đuổi được chúng đi, nhưng cuối cùng khi nhìn đến con cá kiếm của mình thì nó đã bị rỉa hết thịt chỉ còn trơ lại một bộ xương khổng lồ.

Năm 1953 nhà văn được trao giải Pulitzer cho tác phẩm này. General introduction:
The story “The old man and the sea” is a short story written in English by Heming way, an American writer.
Summary of the book’s content:
The story is about the struggle between man and nature for survival. The main character is an old Cuban fisherman named Santiago, an unlucky fisherman. After 80 days not catching a fish, the old man venture far out into the Gulf to fish and a giant marlin takes his bait. But because the fish is too great, he must struggle 3 days and three nights with the fish, and finally he is able to catch it.
Conclusion:
In my opinion, the story “The old man and the sea” is a good one about the struggle for survival, and I think all of us should read it whenever we have time to understand more about the rules of life.
