It`s probably the first long -distance race
marathon in the world and it started in the
U.S in 1897.
At first this running was only reserved for
men, until 1967 women could participate in it.
Now everyone in the world can join it.
There are 26,964 participants from 90 countries in
Boston Marathon this year .
Geoffrey Mutai won the male champion, he clocked 2 hours 3 minutes and 1 second with 42.2 km long-distance. (18 April 2011- 115th)
Caroline Kilel won the female champion, she clocked
2 hours 22 minutes and 36 seconds.
