Example 1:
He had promised to come. He didn’tcome.


->Though he had promised to come, he didn’t come.
It rains. Lan goes to school



->Although it rains, Lan goes to school
Example 2:
She tried to finish the report. She was tired.




-> She tried to finish the report although she was tired

Exercise1:Combine the sentences with although/ even though

1. It rained a lot. We enjoyed our vacation.

2. We had planned everything carefully. A lot of things went wrong.


3. The doctor has advised him to quit. Bob smokes 20 cigarettes a day
->Although it rained a lot, we enjoyed our vacation.
->Although we had planned everything carefully, a lot of things went wrong
-> Even though the doctor has advised him to quit, Bob smokes 20 cigarettes a day.
Exercise1: Combine the sentences with although, even though.

Eg: Although Tom got up late, he got to school on time.
=> Despite / in spite of getting up late, Tom got to school on time


2. Vế 1: N + be + Adj 

Eg: Although the rain is heavy, Tom has to go to school.
=> Despite / in spite of heavy rain, Tom has to go to school.

3. Vế 1: PRON + be + Adj: 


Eg: Although he was sick, Tom has to go to school
=>Despite / in spite of his sickness, Tom has to go to school.
Adj đem đặt trước N Be: bỏ
Đại từ : thành sở hữu Tính từ: thành danh từ Be: Bỏ


4. Vế 1: PRON + V + Adv 



Eg: Although He behaved impolitely, his mother loves him too much
=> Despite / in spite of his impolite behaveness, his mother ………

Đại từ: thành sở hữu
Động từ: thành danh từ
Trạng từ: thành tính từ đặt trước N
5. Vế 1 : there be + N 

Eg: Although there was an accident ,……….
=> Despite / in spite of an accident, ………
Bỏ there be


6) Vế 1 : It (be) + tính từ về thời tiết
Bỏ: It (be); Đổi tính từ thành danh từ thêm the phía trước.
