1. Thì quá khứ đơn
* Formation : Thì quá khứ đơn được thành lập theo hình thức sau :
a.Tobe : was / were.
Ex : She was very tired.
They were very happy.
b. verbs:
( + ) S + V-ed / V2 +……..
Ex : They wanted to see a movie.
She came here yesterday.
( - ) S + didn’t + V ( bare – infinitive ) +.....
Ex : They didn’t want to see a movie.
She didn’t come here yesterday.
( ? ) Did + S + V ( bare – infinitive ) +…… ?
Ex : Did they want to see a movie ?
Did she come here yesterday?
I-Structures
* Uses : Thì quá khứ đơn dùng để :
+ Chỉ một hành động đã xảy ra và chấm dứt tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ.( Thường dùng với các trạng từ chỉ thời gian như : yesterday, ago, last week / month / year …, in / on + past time ).
Ex : He visited Hue in 2002
+ Chỉ một chuỗi các hành động xảy ra trong quá khứ.
Ex : After he arrived in Hue, he visited his grandparents,
saw some friends and went sightseeing around Hue.
+ Chỉ một sự việc xảy ra suốt một khoảng thời gian trong quá khứ và đã chấm dứt.
Ex : I went to school on foot when I was a child.
2. WISH
* Past simple with “wish”:
wish + S + V (past simple)/ were
* Modal verbs with “wish”:
wish + S + could + V
I wish I knew her phone number
I wish Hoa were here.
