Rules of Adding -s in the 3rd Person Singular
Most verbs add -s in the 3rd person singular
speak – speaks live – lives
think – thinks write – writes
But go and do are different. They add -es
If the verb ends in -s, -sh, or -ch, add -es
teach – teaches kiss – kisses
finish – finishes go – goes
If the verb ends in a consonant + -y, we change -y to -ies
try – tries apply – applies

But if the verb ends in a vowel + -y, the -y does not change
