(Superative adjectives)
- Large -> larger -> the largest
The Plaza is the largest hotel
The Plaza hotel is the cheapest
- Cheap -> cheaper -> the cheapest
Claridge hotel is the most expensive
- Exspensive -> more exspensive -> the most exspensive
10.4.1. Short adjectives:
Example: The Plaza is the cheapest hotel.
the + short adj + "- est"
* The spelling of "- est" ending:
- If the adjectives end in "e" we put "st" only.
Example:
nice - nicest
fine - finest
large - largest
- If some adjectives end in "y" we change "y" into "i" + est
Example:
busy - busiest
happy - happiest
unfriendly - unfriendliest
- If the short adj is one - syllable and before the final letter is a vowel, we double the last letter.
Example:
hot - hottest
fat - fattest
wet - wettest
- Some short adjectives are irregular:
Example:
good - the best
bad - the worst
many/ much - the most
little - the least
far - The farthest ( The furthest)
old - The oldest (the eldest)
