1.They were Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
2.Brunei became the sixth member in 1984 and Viet Nam became the seventh member in 1995. Lao and Myanmar joined the bloc in 1997 and Cambodia joined two years later.
