It began in 1879. And the same year,
John Mc Dermott, who came from New York,
won the first Boston Athletic Association Marathon
He clocked 2 hours 50 minutes and 10 seconds.
However, not until 1967, women have right to join
this race. Kuscsik became the first female champion
in 1972 . The Boston race is about 42 km; runners
have to go through 13 towns during the race.
