UNIT 11
Technology
COMMUNICATION
A
1. Thomas Edison
2. Sir Alexander Fleming
1. Match the
inventors in A with
their inventions in B:
3. Alexander Graham Bell
4. The Wright brothers
5. James Watt
6. Mark Zuckerberg
7. Tim BernersLeeEdison -- the light bulb (bóng đèn điện)
Thomas
B
a. the steam engine
b. Facebook
c. the light bulb
d. penicilline
e. the Internet
f. the telephone
g. the airplane
Sir Alexander Flemming -- penicillin
Alexander Graham Bell -- the telephone
The Wright brothers -- the airplane
James Watt -- the steam engine (động cơ hơi nước)
Mark Zuckerberg -- Facebook
Tim Berners-Lee -- the Internet
2. Which invention is more useful?
Ex: A: The invention of the airplane is very important because it has changed the
way people travel and transport goods around the world.
B: You are right. But I think the invention of penicillin is more useful because it
has saved lots of lives……
C: Personally,
C: …………… I think the light bulb the most important invention. Because
the invention of the light bulb enables us to be able to conduct work at
night. This greatly improves productivity, enhances the quality of our life,
and reduces crime rates.
D: You are right. The light bulb changed the way humans live. Sure, we had

- He told me that he always liked sciences, especially biology.
- He told me that he had taught the deaf-mute in Boston, USA.
- He said to me that he had invented the telephone by chance in 1876.
4. Work in pairs. One of you is a reporter, and the other is Tim BernersLee. Role- play, using the information
Tim Berners- Lee: Bristish computer scientist, inventor of the Internet
. Born 8 June 1955- London
- He said that he was born on 8 June 1955 in London.
