1.Work with a partner. Read the dialogue:
Nga: Come and see my photo album.
Nam: Lovely! Who’s this girl?
Nga: Ah! It’s Lan, my old friend.
Nam: How long have you made friend with her?
Nga: I’ve made friend with her for six years.
Nam: Have you seen her recently?
Nga: No, I haven’t seen her since 2003.

I. The present perfect

PRESENT PERFECT TENSE
Affirmative:
E.g.: I have lived in Ho Chi Minh city for 5 years.
Nam has bought a new bike since 2019.
b. Negative:
E.g.: I haven’t lived in Ho Chi Minh city for 5 years.
Nam hasn’t lived in Can Tho city since 2015.
S + have/has + V3/ed
S + haven’t/hasn’t + V3/ed
c. Question:
E.g.: Have you lived in HCM city for 5 years?
Has Nam lived in HCM city since 2015?
d. Signals: since, for, just, already, recently, never, ever, yet, etc.
e. Usage: the present perfect is used to expressed:
+ an action from the past to the present;
+ an action that occurred without accurate time.

II. The passive voice
1. Simple present tense:
E.g.: They sells jeans all over the world.
Jeans are sold all over the world.
Active: S + V(s/es) + O
Passive: S + am/is/are + V3/ed + by O
2. Simple past tense:
Active: S + V2/ed + O
Passive: S + was/were + V3/ed + by O
3. Present perfect tense:
Active: S + have/has + V3/ed + O
Passive: S + have/has + been + V3/ed + O
4. Modal verb, Have to, Be going to:
Active: S + modal verb + V(infinitive) + O
Passive: S + modal verb + be + V3/ed + O
1. Bỏ (by O) đối với những chủ từ bất định như: they, people, we, you, he, she, I, someone, somebody, no one, nobody, etc.
2. By O + time
Location + by O
NOTES:
Change these sentences into the passive voice, as directed:
a. They made jean cloth completely from cotton in the 18th century.
