What is a relationship?
=> A relationship is a social connection between two or more people.
=> A relationship is the way two or more people are connected, or the way they behave toward each other.

1. What is the two people’s relationship?
Look at the picture and guess
=> They are grandmother and granddaughter.
=> The grandmother is telling her granddaughter to focus on schoolwork. While the granddaughter is thinking about romantic relationships.
2. What are they talking about?
VOCABULARY
- sympathetic (adj) /ˌsɪm.pəˈθet.ɪk/: showing that you understand and care about their problems.
= understanding (a), concerned (a), thoughtful (a)
= đồng cảm, cảm thông
E.g. She was very sympathetic when I was sick.
Word family: sympathise (v), sympathy (n)
= focus on, give attention

E.g. I`m going to concentrate on my writing for a while.

- concentrate (on) /ˈkɒn.sən.treɪt/ (v) to spend more time doing one particular thing than others.
- get involved (in) /ɡet ɪnˈvɒlvd/ (phr): taking part in something; being part of something or connected with something

E.g. Some people tried to stop the fight but I didn`t want to get involved.
- sooner or later (phr): at some time in the future
= at some future time, someday, eventually

- single-sex school /ˌsɪŋ.ɡəlˈseks skuːl/ (n)
= a school for either girls or boys, not both.

E.g. She went to a single-sex school. (A school which has only female students)
- opposite-sex friend /ˌɒp.ə.zɪt ˈseks frend/ (n)
= a friend who is male if you are female, and female if you are male

E.g. He found it difficult to talk to other opposite-sex friends in his class. (other female friends)
