Cleft sentences

=> These sentences are called cleft sentences
* Note:
-Câu tách/ chẻ (cleft sentences) được dùng để nhấn mạnh
một thành phần trong câu ( S, O, Adv).
-Thì của “be” phù họp với thì của V trong mệnh đề quan hệ
- V trong mệnh đề quan hệ phù họp về số với subject (focus)
Structure:
It + be (is/was ) + focus + relative clause
S that / who + V……..
O that + S + V….
Adv that + S + V…..
Example: The man waters flowers in the garden
S V O Adv
1.S focus: It is the man who/that waters flowers in the garden.
2.O focus: It is flowers that the man waters in the garden.
3.Adv focus: It is in the garden that the man waters flowers.

model, paying attention to the subject of the verb:
