(Mệnh đề có dấu phẩy đứng trước who, whom, which, whose dùng để cung cấp thêm thông tin)
Set the scene:
Hung went with his father to a very large supermarket. He asked his father: “Who designed the building, dad?”. “The architects”, his father replied. Hung would like to know what ‘architect’ means, so he asked his father “who is an architect, dad?”. His father answered “An architect is someone who designs buildings.”

“What’s the name of the man whose car you borrowed, Mike? ” asked Peter.
1. A pacifist is a person ................... believes that all wars are wrong.

Using who, whose, which to join the sentences
Set the scene:
- Peter: What is the longest bridge in Hanoi, Mike?
- Mike: Thanh Tri bridge is the longest in Hanoi. It is in Thanh Tri District.
- Peter: Oh, I see. Thanh Tri bridge, which is in Thanh Tri District, is the longest in Hanoi.
- Mike: Yes. That’s right.
The position of Non-defining relative clause?
- They are put after one or between two commas
- They go after subjects:
* with proper nouns ( Uncle Ho; Maria...)
* possessive adjectives ( my, your, his...)
* with this, that, these, those
- Non-defining clauses can be introduced by expressions like all of, many of + relative pronoun
- Notes: we don’t use that in this kind of clause.
1. Peter is studying French and German. He has never been abroad.
2. You’ve all met Michael Wood. He is visiting us for a couple of days.
3. I will be staying with John. His brother is one of my classmates.
4. We are going to move to Hanoi. Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam.
Peter, who is studying French and German, has never been abroad.
You’ve all met Michael Wood, who is visiting us for a couple of days.
I’ll be staying with John, whose brother is one of my classmates.
We’re going to Hanoi, which is the capital of Vietnam.
