PURPOSE:

+ Help Ss to get acquainted with topic relating to Personal Experience

+ Develop: 1.Present simple indicating past time.
2.Tense revision: the past simple, past progressive and past perfect
+ Help students to communicate and interact with other people.






1.Pros

The content of the exercises is practical
 relating to present simple indicating past time, past simple, past progressive and past perfect

There are some exercises therefore students have many opportunities to practise.
General evaluation

It is not really interesting
It is so easy for students so they don’t need to brainstorm when doing these exercises.

Exercise 1: Fill in the blank
1. Aims:

To make the task more interesting.
To help students become more active and flexible

2. Technique: Changing






3. Procedure:

Activity: Use the correct present tense forms of the verb in the box to fill in the blank





The story is about a girl called Little Red Riding Hood who lives with her mother. Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother…… her to her cottage, so one fine day she ……ready, ……goodbye to her mother and…..to be careful. On her arm she…….. a basket which contains a cake her mother has baked specially. It…..a lovely spring morning, the sun….. and the birds……, feeling happy that the winter is over.

Step 1:
T gives instruction
(You have to work individually and use the correct present tense forms of the verb in the box to fill in the blank. You have 3 minutes to do it. )
Step 2:
After 3 minutes, T calls some students to give their answers and gives feedback.
Exercise 2: Describe the pictures
Aims:
To help students become more active & enthusiastic in class
To increase the interaction between members in group.
To give students a chance to develop the creative ability.

Step 1: Teacher divides the whole class into 4 groups.
Step 2: T gives instruction
( I have 5 pictures here. You have to describe these pictures by using the past simple or past progressive. You have 5 minutes to discuss in your group, after that I will call each group’s representative to write down the answers on the board . Which group has the best answers will be the winner.)
Step 3: T sticks pictures on the board.
Step 4: After 5 minutes, T checks the answers & gives feedback.

Activity: Choose the suitable verb in the bracket and put it into the past simple or the past perfect to fill in the blanks.

3. Procedure:
Activity: Noughts and Crosses



Step 1: T puts a table on the board with 9 numbers, then divides the whole class into 2 groups A & B
Step 2: T gives instruction of this game.
( Each group will take turn to choose the number and make a sentence with its cue. If the sentence is correct, I will put mark( “O” or “ X” ) in the number that you choose. The first group to get three – in – a row ( across, down, or diagonally) will be winner.
Step 3:
T sticks poster with the cues on the board.
Step 4:
After 5 minutes, T checks answer and give feedback
